The extension was constructed within an existing hospital courtyard, requiring careful planning, service coordination, and uninterrupted operation of surrounding healthcare facilities.
The project involved the complete design, approvals, and construction of a new facility comprising a staff lounge, private consultation offices, workstations, and a kitchenette. The building was delivered using a lightweight steel-framed structure with insulated walls and roofing, commercial-grade glazing, acoustic treatments, suspended ceilings, and durable healthcare-suitable floor finishes.
Working within an active healthcare environment presented unique challenges, including restricted site access, protection of existing services, management of demolition works, and integration with existing hospital infrastructure. Extensive electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, fire protection, and communications services were installed, including new data infrastructure, air-conditioning systems, emergency lighting, smoke detection, sprinklers, and ventilation systems to meet healthcare compliance requirements.
The project also included site preparation, service investigations, storm water and sewer modifications, landscaping removals, roofing works, and accessibility improvements to ensure a functional and comfortable environment for staff and visitors. All works were completed in accordance with relevant Australian building, glazing, fire, and safety standards, delivering a compliant and modern healthcare support facility.
This project demonstrates our capability to successfully deliver complex healthcare construction projects, combining design management, specialist services coordination, and high-quality construction within live hospital environments while minimising disruption to critical healthcare operations.
