The project involved the construction and coordination of a highly specialised imaging facility incorporating MRI, CT, X-Ray, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography, Ultrasound, DEXA, OPG and associated clinical support spaces. The fitout also included treatment and injection rooms, recovery areas, reporting rooms, administration offices, staff facilities, pathology services and a welcoming patient reception and waiting environment.
Working whilst the base building was being completed, the project required close coordination across architectural, structural, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and fire services. Specialist construction elements included radiation shielding, lead-lined and acoustic-rated wall systems, slab modifications, medical service integration, infection-control considerations and the installation of healthcare-grade finishes throughout.
A key focus of the fitout was creating a safe, efficient and comfortable environment for patients, clinicians and support staff. The design delivered clear patient flow, accessible amenities, dedicated staff areas and carefully considered acoustic, lighting and environmental performance to support quality healthcare outcomes.
The project was completed in alignment with the sustainability objectives of Sunshine Private Hospital, supporting the facility’s Green Star aspirations through the use of low-emission materials, energy-efficient systems, waste reduction strategies and a strong focus on indoor environmental quality.
The result is a modern, technology-enabled diagnostic imaging facility that enhances healthcare services for Melbourne’s western suburbs while providing a high-quality experience for patients and healthcare professionals alike.
