Works commenced with carefully sequenced internal demolition and strip-out activities, isolating construction zones from live clinical areas. Temporary barriers, sealed partitions, and controlled access points were installed to maintain safe separation between construction and hospital functions, with strict dust suppression and infection control protocols in place throughout.
The construction phase included new light timber framing, installation of partitions, ceilings, glazing, doors, and associated hardware, followed by high-quality internal finishes such as joinery, flooring, painting, and waterproofing. Services were coordinated and installed in accordance with stringent healthcare requirements, with all penetrations fire-stopped and sealed to maintain acoustic, fire, and infection control performance.
Staging was critical to project delivery, with works progressively undertaken in isolated zones to minimise disruption to adjacent hospital departments. Service connections, penetrations, and shutdowns were carefully planned and executed outside of critical operating periods, ensuring continuity of care and uninterrupted clinical operations.
Throughout construction, enhanced infection prevention measures were maintained, including sealed work areas, negative air pressure where required, controlled material handling, and rigorous cleaning regimes. Dust and debris were managed through enclosed removal processes and frequent site cleaning to meet hospital-grade hygiene standards.
The project was completed with full commissioning, testing, and delivery of as-built documentation and maintenance manuals, resulting in a fully compliant, operational imaging facility integrated seamlessly within the existing hospital environment.
