Sunshine Hospital NICU

Conversion of an existing neo-natal ward into a fully compliant Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), incorporating comprehensive upgrades to building services and clinical infrastructure.

The project included electrical system enhancements to support the life-support equipment and redundancy requirements, along with the installation of a UPS to ensure continuity of care. Additional works involved the installation of medical gas outlets to meet intensive care standards, and integration of switchable (smart) glass partitions to enable improved clinical observation while maintaining patient privacy.

Given the sensitive nature of the environment and the project’s proximity to an operational NICU, strict dust and infection control measures were implemented throughout the works. A fully monitored negative pressure environment was established within the construction zone. This was achieved through the deployment of a custom-built HEPA filtration unit, supplemented by strategically positioned extraction fans to maintain consistent airflow and pressure differentials. Continuous monitoring ensured compliance with healthcare infection control standards, safeguarding vulnerable neonatal patients and maintaining uninterrupted hospital operations.
